Principal
Philip J. Consalvo, AIA, established PJCArchitecture in 1998 with a vision to create an organization that fosters creativity and collaboration.
Armed with a passion for the arts and a desire to design from a young age, Philip received his Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute, where he graduated with honors. His extensive experience studying and traveling abroad enabled him to experience different types of architecture within diverse cultural settings. This included academic programs in Rome and Copenhagen, as well as in South America, where he participated in Foro Mundial de Jóvenes Arquitectos—an international urban design competition held in Buenos Aires, Argentina—where his team was awarded a silver medal.
Philip possesses over 25 years of professional practice experience covering a range of project typologies. He began his career at Fox & Fowle Architects (now FXCollaborative), working on design development through construction administration for projects including residential, corporate interiors, and high-rise buildings. Throughout his career he served as project architect and designer for firms including Menz and Cook Architects and other established and respected New York firms.
Philip believes in the interrelation of all art forms, and his passion for the arts expands beyond architecture into music, theater, literature, and beyond. With a deeply-held conviction that good design is for all, Philip has completed renovations and construction projects for residential, corporate, commercial, and non-profit clients across a range of budgets from modest to high-end, approaching each with an unwavering attention to detail. Philip’s personal involvement in all phases of the firm’s work helps to foster the innovative design solutions that PJCArchitecture has come to be known for. Deeply committed to ensuring that client goals maintain an integral part of the design process, Philip brings in a sensitivity to the environment that ensures the client’s spaces endure and grow alongside them.
Philip is also deeply committed to sustainable design practices. He believes that responsible architecture must contribute positively to both the environment and the human experience. Under his leadership, PJCArchitecture embraces the three pillars of sustainability—environmental responsibility, social equity, and economic vitality—as essential to every project. Sustainability is integrated from the earliest stages of design, from material selection and energy performance to passive strategies and long-term durability. Equally important is the firm’s commitment to working with local communities, artisans, and labor, reinforcing regional economies and fostering a sense of shared ownership and pride in the built environment. For Philip, sustainability is not a trend but a core value—one that ensures beauty, function, and environmental stewardship work in harmony to create spaces that are thoughtful, resilient, and enduring.
Philip is licensed to practice architecture in New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
